San Diego Tortilla Factory scoops the Retail, Wholesale and Distribution Award
Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards
The San Diego Tortilla Factory, has taken out the Retail, Wholesale and Distribution award.
Colin Thomson, who set up San Diego Tortilla Factory in 1995 with his wife Deann after realising there was a gap in the Australian market, said their products could now be bought in New Zealand, Vanuatu, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia.
Mr Thomson said the Burleigh Head based business now employed 25 people and used about 250 tonnes of flour of year in its manufacturing process.
Mr Thomson said a big part of the company’s successful was due to Australia’s love of Mexican food even though there was not a large Spanish community in the country.
